Boys Varsity Lacrosse · Lacrosse team to honor vets, looking for help

The Lima Senior High School boys lacrosse team will kick off its first season soon and will begin the tradition of honoring veterans before each home game at Spartan Stadium.

The idea to honor local veterans comes from junior player Cole Mericle, who remembered the soccer team doing the same thing a few years ago.

“It was something I felt really proud to be a part of,” he said. “It was something I really wanted to do and it just all came together.”

The plan is for the honored veteran (likely a graduate or district employee) to do the coin toss before the game begins and for there to be pictures of them on the video scoreboard.

The veterans will also receive a plaque. This is where Mericle could use some help. He is looking for donations for the team to purchase the plaques. If anyone wants to help, please contact Coach Nate Garlock at 419-996-3245 or
