About Us

Athletic Overview

The Lima City Schools is the largest school district in the region, serving nearly 4,000 students.

We offer high school athletic opportunities in football, volleyball, soccer, cross county, basketball, wrestling, swimming, baseball, tennis, track and field and cheerleading. Most recently, we added golf and bowling to our offerings. The additions came after surveying students.

Our middle school athletes compete in football, wrestling, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, swim, soccer, and cheerleading.

Our youth athletes compete in baseball, softball, soccer, and track and field.

Our athletes compete in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC). Conference members are Findlay, Fremont Ross, Oregon Clay, Toledo Central Catholic, Toledo Notre Dame, Toledo St. Francis, Toledo St. John’s, Toledo St. Ursula and Whitmer.

Students practice and compete in state-of-the-art facilities, including our newly renovated Spartan Stadium. In addition to the stadium, the Lima Senior site includes two gymnasiums, baseball and softball fields, practice soccer and football fields and weight room.

We are proud Spartans, led by our mascot Sparty!

The Lima City Schools strives to offer an array of opportunities for our students, including many athletic offerings for students to choose from.

While we desire competitive athletic programs, we know that school and academics come first. Our students know this and embrace it.

Our coaches work to build winning teams, while also teaching good sportsmanship, encouraging team work among players, and building character in all athletes. We believe the skills athletes learn while practicing and competing will assist them in other areas of their lives and into the future. Therefore, these remain at the forefront of all of our programs.

Our student athletes are encouraged to and given the tools and skills needed to perform at a high level on the field, in the classroom and in their community. Our coaches and athletic department work hand-in-hand with other high school staff, students and parents to make sure our student athletes are prepared for the future.
