Spartan football players earn TRAC, District, State honors

Two Lima Senior football players have earned All-State honors. Tight End Keaton Upshaw has been named to the Second Team and Defensive Back Kevontae Tyson earned Honorable Mention. Upshaw and Tyson were also named First Team in the All-Northwest Ohio District. Second Team honors went to  Running Back Xavier Nichols and Defensive Lineman Brandon Taylor. Receiver Jaleel King earned Honorable Mention.

Lacrosse coming to Lima Senior

Lima Senior High School is adding lacrosse to its offerings beginning this spring. Nate Garlock, the district’s director of safety and security, will be the boys head coach. 8th-grade football wins another championship

For the second consecutive year, the Lima City Schools eighth-grade football team took home the league championship trophy. The team beat Findlay 48-24 to win this year’s title. The seventh-grade team also beat Findlay, giving them the No. 3 spot in the league. The final score was 50-0.

Soccer TRAC honors released

Lima Senior soccer player Colton Fry has been named First Team by the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC). Sam Sharik earned Second Team Honors. Honorable Mention awards went to Tyler Lesh, Cole Mericle and Kevin Samons. From the Lima Senior girls team, Ta’lor Washington, Kienna Brown and Maddie O’Connell earned Honorable Mention awards.

Volleyball players earn TRAC Honorable Mention

Lima Senior volleyball players Jurnie Phillips and Taja Oglesbee recently earned Three Rivers Athletic Conference Honorable Mention awards. Phillips is a senior and Oglesbee is a junior.

Boys soccer advances in Sectionals

Lima Senior High School’s boys soccer team beat Toledo Start 4-2 Monday to advance to the Sectional Finals on Wednesday. Sam Sharik scored two goals, and Colton Fry came up with a goal and two assists. Tyler Lesh added a goal. Goalie Kevin Sammons finished with 5 saves on 7 shots. The Spartans will travel
