Today, Lima Senior faced a very solid DIV Marion Elgin team. Their pitching was at the level Spartans are used to facing TRAC opponents. Thr Spartans came out swinging, making contact a number of times during the game. The real star of today’s game was Alivia Buchanan. Livy pitched her first game ever. We don’t mean to say her first varsity game. We mean her first game, EVER. She did an exceptional job keeping us in the game and throwing strikes. Livy’s off-speed pitches kept them at bay throughout most of the game. Utilizing an infield and outfield shift, the Spartans were able to make many outs in efficient and timely ways. The outfield was busy and supportive of Buchanan’s efforts. Showalter also pitched an inning and did very well. She too pitched her first game ever. It says a lot about these two girls and our team that we can go to an away game against a very good team throw two student-athlete who never pitched a game in their life and still keep it competitive and fun. The Spartans didn’t get any base hits but were swinging hard every time.
